Emotion Focused Therapy is a humanistic approach developed by Dr Leslie Greenberg.

Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) focuses on examining the emotions and experiences experienced during the therapeutic process. In this therapy, the therapist tries to help the client process and maintain their feelings, rather than withholding or avoiding them. Properly dealing with and expressing emotions can contribute to positive changes and well-being.

During an EFT therapy session, the patient is asked to express their feelings, examine and explore the origins and meaning of their feelings, and identify the implications and potential for resorting to therapeutic behaviors. The therapist assumes the role of supporting the patient and guiding the patient in dealing with his or her feelings and experience.

EFT has been successfully applied to a variety of psychological problems including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma emotional disorders and eating disorders. This therapy is considered effective in helping the therapist to develop potential for change, increase self-awareness and improve relationships.

Overall, EFT is an approach that focuses on the role and importance of emotions and their experience in human psychology and therapy.
