Each person who starts psychotherapy has different needs and issues to deal with.

The goals that each person seeks to achieve are personal, and what constitutes “therapy” for each person is different.

In general, in psychotherapy we discuss issues of everyday life that are of concern to the individual.

Also to the extent that it relates to these issues, we also discuss each person’s personal history. It is like a journey through time and space that helps the person to gain new perspectives on the issues that concern them and also an understanding of attitudes, beliefs and patterns that they have.

Now depending on the goals and needs, therapy can be short term and address a very specific request or long term and address deeper issues that have to do with the individual’s personal development.

In both cases it is usual for the therapy to have a specific context, i.e. number of meetings and frequency of meetings (usually weekly).

It is very important to understand that in order to get results from therapy one must actively participate in the process.

The ultimate goal of psychotherapy is to help the person integrate what they have learned and experienced in therapy into their life.

People who come for psychotherapy are ready to make positive changes in their lives, are open to incorporating new perspectives and perspectives, and are ready

Some people may be experiencing major life changes (divorce, bereavement, job change, etc.), others may find it difficult to cope with stressful situations. While others may need help to manage issues such as depression, anxiety, addictions, relationship problems, self-esteem issues and more. Therapy can help supportively to enable them to overcome these difficulties. It can also help them to better understand themselves and find effective ways of achieving goals and resolving their difficulties.

Essentially, people who come for psychotherapy are people who want to address the difficulties they are experiencing and make the changes necessary to have a better quality of life.

It is scientifically documented that the use of medication is not a long-term solution to mental and emotional problems and the pain they cause.

More specifically, medication relieves the symptom. Psychotherapy, however, targets the cause of the problems.

The way to achieve improvement and maintain change in quality of life is through psychotherapy .

However, the therapist will judge if a combination is needed and in collaboration with a psychiatrist the appropriate treatment will be discussed.
