SOMATIC EXPERIENCING® (SE™) is a therapeutic approach developed by Peter A. Levine, Ph.D.
The Somatic Experiencing® approach is recognized as an effective method for healing psychological trauma and releasing it on a physical level. It is aimed at all ages and can be used to treat a wide range of problems such as domestic violence, sexual abuse, accidents, natural disasters and other life difficulties.
The approach is based on observation and recognition of the instinctive reactions of the body and nervous system. With the guidance of the therapist, therapists release repressed anxiety and somatized trauma, activating a physiological system of self-protection that allows them to cope with trauma and difficulties in an effective and easy way.
Somatic Experiencing® therapy can be done individually or in group sessions and can be complemented with other forms of therapy and approaches such as psychotherapy, kinesitherapy.
